Our History

The funeral home was established in 1978 by a local family. In 1994, a group of people led by Mrs. Huguette Génier became owners of the funeral home and brought the designation of Les Maisons Funéraires Génier Gauthier Funeral Homes Inc. 

In 2009 we became owners of Irvine & Irvine funeral homes. We arrived in the area with the ambition to fulfill our cherished dream of operating our own funeral home. As soon as we arrived, we devoted all our energy and passion towards this dream and we were privileged to be so warmly welcomed into the community. In the following years, we experienced much love and fulfillment. We gave birth to two handsome boys, Bryan and Eliam, and day by day we successfully built our small local business according to our vision. Our desire has always been to provide dignified and compassionate services with the highest degree of professionalism.

In 2016 we embraced a milestone achievement for our company: we acquired the funeral establishment of Les Maisons Funéraires Genier Gauthier Funeral Homes. We are committed to respectfully honor the traditions of the company that has been such an important part of this community for the past 40 years. Julie Leonard, already active in the funeral practice for nearly 10 years, will be responsible for maintaining operations at the Cochrane and Smooth Rock Falls locations. Julie, who is dedicated to the community, will continue to provide her valuable knowledge, experience and support to the people in her community.

As young entrepreneurs, we are proud to be part of the development of Northeastern Ontario. We are very happy that by operating our family owned business, we are able to create four valued positions.
