Mr. Alain Brisson
February 20, 1932 - August 5, 2022
 

It is with great sadness the family announces his passing at the Lady Minto Hospital on Friday, August 5th, 2022 at the age of 90. He was the son of the late Joseph Albert and Lauria (née Houle) Brisson.

He was predecessed by his beloved wife Katy (Catharina) née Poberezetz on June 26, 2021. He will be forever missed by his children Daniel (Carol) Brisson of Cochrane, Kendra (Paul) Robin of Cochrane, Dale Brisson of South Porcupine, Tina (Ken) Beadman of Ottawa, Lisa (Steven) Scian of Ottawa. He was loved and will be fondly missed by his grandchildren, Tanya (Brian), Keven (Jenny), Nathan (Carrie), Derek (Maryse), Dale Jr (Sarah), Kelsea (Kevin), Zoe (Mark), Sydney and Carter and many great grandchildren.

He was the brother of Huguette (the late Léo) Fillion, Jean-Louis (the late Rose) Brisson, predeceased by Gérald and his spouse Margaret, Robert and his spouse Rita, and Léola.

He was a loving husband and father, fondly nicknamed Chummy by Katy and simply called dad by his children. Known to his grandchildren as Pépère.

Alain was a pilar within the community of Cochrane his entire life. As the co-founder of J.A. Brisson & Sons, he will be long remembered for his integrity and honesty. He was a dedicated businessman, and altruistic in his ways. His charitable legacy remains as an integral value within Brisson Castle Building Centre today.

He was a town councillor, life-time member of the Cochrane Board of trade, and as member of The Lee Golf club, co-founded and helped construct what is now known as The Cart Shed. As an active member of the catholic community, Alain sat on the Transfiguration Church Board, the Catholic School Board and became the youngest Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

Alain, a true gentleman, always greeted you with his warm smile, sense of humor and irresistible personality. He was an incredibly patient man and took significant pride in learning by doing. Extremely passionate for woodworking, he built and filled the family home with hand-made furniture, intarsia artwork, and gifted the family with heirloom pieces.

He lent his harmonious singing voice to the Cochrane Community and Transfiguration Church Choirs. He will be fondly remembered for serenading Katy with his rendition of My Wild Irish Rose, K-K-K-Katy (Beautiful Katy), and Yellow Bird.

Whether on road trips or accompanied by his children on piano or guitar, Dad would fill the room with song, his favorite being the latin version of Ave Maria.

The family will welcome relatives and friends at the Génier Gauthier Funeral Home on Wednesday August 10th from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.

The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday August 10th, 2022 at 11 am at the Transfiguration Church in Cochrane. (this event will be live streamed- the link is below)
