Mme Rita Lamarche (née Larivée)
13 mai 1936 – 25 juin 2022

Entourée de l’amour de sa famille, Rita est décédée paisiblement le 25 juin 2022 à la Villa Minto de Cochrane, à l'âge de 86 ans. Elle était la fille de Louis Larivée et de Georgianna (Gagné).

 Rita est née à l'hôpital de Cochrane Lady Minto le 13 mai 1936. Elle a grandi sur une ferme en activité au nord de Cochrane avec ses 8 frères et sœurs; Lucien (Gisele), Irène (Omer Lamarche), Gabrielle (Roger Mayer), Adrien (Eileen), Fernand (Leona), Germaine (Raymond Fortier), Jeanette et Annette.

Suite aux marches quotidiennes de 3 kilomètres (aller simple) jusqu'à son école rurale, parfois dans les conditions hivernales les plus rudes du Nord, Rita a inventé le terme « Back in the Day ».  Elle a rencontré l'amour de sa vie à l'âge de 16 ans et une histoire d'amour de 70 ans avec Roland a été écrite. Les deux étaient inséparables, ensemble jusqu'au dernier souffle de Rita. Ils ont élevé quatre enfants; Denis (Shirley), Daniel (Wendy), Monique (Michael Greenwood) et Normand (Laura).

Rita aimait la vie. Elle aimait rire, accueillir sa famille et ses amis, danser, se déguiser, faire des farces, mais surtout, elle aimait être entouré de sa famille. Rita était « all in » sur la famille. Leur première maison achetée était située à côté de ses parents et juste en face des parents de Roland, Arthur et Aldina. Dans leurs 70, Rita et Rolly se sont lancés dans leur premier projet de conception et de construction de maison neuve. Alors que la plupart de leurs amis avaient déjà réduit la taille de leur maison, Rita (affectueusement connue sous le nom de Nana) a dû agrandir sa nouvelle maison pour accueillir sa collection croissante de petits-enfants ; Sally Guillemette (David), David Lamarche (Kelsey), Mason Lamarche (Brianna), Reese Lamarche (Tanya), Madison Greenwood, Spencer Greenwood, Chantale Lamarche et Alex Lamarche, ainsi ses arrière-petits-enfants; Sadie, Stella, Hailey, Brody, Grayson et Lennix.

 Rita n'a jamais voulu, ni demandé, mais était toujours prête à offrir et à donner. Elle avait une compréhension ferme de ce qui était important, c'est-à-dire une vie vécue avec ceux que vous aimez plutôt que toute possession matérielle. Bien avant l'époque des médias sociaux, Rita était une "influenceuse" à succès, façonnant et influençant ses « followers » par osmose, les vertus et les valeurs qu'elle portait avec elle. Au fur et à mesure que son héritage se poursuit, elle continue de façonner et d'influencer ses disciples pour qu'ils deviennent de meilleurs êtres humains.

La famille accueillera parents et amis è la Maison Funéraire Génier Gauthier, 70 Seventh Ave South, Cochrane, le vendredi 1er juillet 2022 à partir de 19h à 21h et le samedi 2 juillet 2022 à partir de 9h30 à 10h30.

Les funérailles auront lieu le samedi 2 juillet 2022 à 11h à l’Église Transfiguration de Cochrane.

Les cendres seront déposées au Cimetière Catholique de Cochrane et une réception suivra à la Salle de l’Église.

Rita passed away peacefully on June 25, 2022 on her 86th year with her family by her side.  Daughter to Louis Larivée and Georgianna (Gagné), Rita was born at the Cochrane Lady Minto Hospital on May 13th, 1936.  She was raised on a working farm north of Cochrane with her 8 siblings; Lucien (Gisele), Irene (Omer Lamarche), Gabrielle (Roger Mayer),  Adrien (Eileen), Fernand (Leona), Germaine (Raymond Fortier),  Jeanette and Annette.  With Rita's daily 3 kilometre walks (each way) to her rural school, sometimes in the harshest of northern winter conditions, Rita coined the term ‘Back in The Day’.

Rita met the love of her life at the early age of 16 and a 70 year love story with Roland was written. The two were inseparable, together until Rita's final breath.  The two raised four kids; Denis (Shirley), Daniel (Wendy), Monique (Michael Greenwood) and Normand (Laura).

Rita loved life. She loved to laugh, to entertain, to dance, to dress-up, to prank her family and friends, but most of all, she loved her family. Rita was  ' all in ' on family. Their first home purchased was located next door to her parents, and directly across the street from Roland’s parents, Arthur and Aldina.  In their 70s, Rita and Rolly embarked on their first new home design and build project. While most of their friends had already downsized their homes, Rita (affectionately known as Nana) had to size up her new home to accommodate her growing collection of grandkids; Sally Guillemette (David), David Lamarche (Kelsey), Mason Lamarche (Brianna), Reese Lamarche (Tanya), Madison Greenwood, Spencer Greenwood, Chantale Lamarche and Alex Lamarche, along with great grandkids; Sadie, Stella, Hailey, Brody, Grayson and Lennix.

Rita never wanted, nor asked, but was always quick to offer and to give.  She had a firm understanding of what was important, that is of a life lived with the ones you love over any material possession. Long before the days of social media, Rita was a successful ‘Influencer’, shaping and influencing her followers through osmosis, the virtues and values that she carried with her.  And as her legacy carries forward, she continues to shape and influence her followers to be great human beings.

Visitations will take place at Les Maisons Funéraires Génier Gauthier Funeral Homes, 70 Seventh Ave South in Cochrane on Friday July 1, 2022 between 7pm to 9pm as well as Saturday July 2, 2022 between 9:30 am to 10:30am.

The funeral service will be held Saturday July 2 at 11am at the Transfiguration Church followed by her interment at the Cochrane RC cemetery. A light lunch will be served at the church hall.
