Raoul Viau 

May 6, 1935 – September 28, 2022  

Raoul Viau, age 87, died peacefully at the Villa Minto Nursing Home in Cochrane on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. He will be sadly missed by his children Jeannette (Robert) Hutchinson, Rose Viau, Michel Viau, Donald (Denise) Viau, the late Marcel (Claire) Viau, Carole (Frank) Hart and Tina Viau. Proud grandfather of Zackary Hutchinson, Hope (Cory) Cooke, Bobbie Hutchinson, Christine Moore, Anne Dorval, Daniel (Julie) Viau, Melanie (Eric) Leger, Maurice (Cindy) Viau, Chantal (Eric) Lafrenière and Frankie Hart. Proud great grandfather of Brayden and Wyatt Cooke, Finley Lacoste, Shon Moore, Samantha, Marie-Claude and Jonathan Deschamps, Danny Viau, Alexandre, Brianna and Chloé Leger, Sebastien and Khloé Lafrenière, Kallie, Jay and Dax Viau, Angel and Matthew Boudreau.   Proud great-great grandfather of Quinn and Roman Cheff.  

Raoul also leaves behind his siblings Marcel Viau, Fernand (Sylvia) Viau, Léo-Paul (Thérèse) Viau, his sister-in-law Irene Viau, as well as Celine Cassistat, referred by him as stepdaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

He was predeceased by his wife Marie (née Leblanc) Viau, his son Marcel, his parents Elzéar and Yvonne (née Marenger) Viau and his siblings Antonio (Hazel) Viau, Joseph Viau, Armand Viau, Marie Girard and his sisters-in-law Bonnie, Audrey and Micheline.

The Viau family would like to thank the staff of the Villa Minto Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion.

Relatives & friends are welcome to visit at Maison Funéraire Génier Gauthier, 70 Seventh Ave. South, Cochrane, on Friday September 30, 2022, from 7 pm to 9 pm and on Saturday October 1st, 2022 from 9am to 10:30 am. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Transfiguration Church with Father Maxwell officiating on Saturday October 1st, 2022 at 11 am. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed (***use link provided below***) 

A luncheon will be served at the Richelieu hall. 
Raoul will be laid to rest beside his wife, Marie at the Cochrane R.C. Cemetery.

Raoul Viau, âgé de 87 ans, est décédé paisiblement au manoir Villa Minto à Cochrane, le mercredi 28 septembre 2022. Il sera manqué tristement par ses enfants Jeannette (Robert) Hutchinson, Rose Viau, Michel Viau, Donald (Denise) Viau, feu Marcel (Claire) Viau, Carole (Frank) Hart et Tina Viau. Fier grand-père de Zackary Hutchinson, Hope (Cory) Cooke, Bobbie Hutchinson, Christine Moore, Anne Dorval, Daniel (Julie) Viau, Melanie (Eric) Leger, Maurice (Cindy) Viau, Chantal (Eric) Lafrenière et Frankie Hart. Fier arrière-grand-père de Brayden et Wyatt Cooke, Finley Lacoste, Shon Moore, Samantha, Marie-Claude et Jonathan Deschamps, Danny Viau, Alexandre, Brianna et Chloé Leger, Sebastien et Khloé Lafrenière, Kallie, Jay et Dax Viau, Angel et Matthew Boudreau.  Fier arrière-arrière-grand-père de Quinn et Roman Cheff.  

Raoul laisse également dans le deuil ses frères Marcel Viau, Fernand (Sylvia) Viau, Léo-Paul (Thérèse) Viau, sa belle-sœur Irène Viau, ainsi que Céline Cassistat, qu'il considérait comme sa belle-fille et de nombreux neveux, nièces et amis. 

Il a été prédécédé par son épouse Marie (née Leblanc) Viau, son fils Marcel, ses parents Elzéar et Yvonne (née Marenger) Viau et ses frères et sa sœur Antonio (Hazel) Viau, Joseph Viau, Armand Viau, Marie Girard et ses belles-sœurs Bonnie, Audrey et Micheline. 

La famille Viau tient à remercier le personnel du manoir Villa Minto pour les soins exceptionnels et leur compassion..

La famille recevra parents et amies le vendredi 30 septembre 2022 à partir de 19h à 21h et aussi le samedi 1er octobre 2022 à partir de 9h à 10h30 à Les Maisons Funéraires Génier Gauthier, 70 septième Ave. Sud de Cochrane. 

Les funérailles auront lieu à la l’église Transfiguration, le samedi 1er octobre 2022 à 11h par l’officiant Père Maxwell.

Un repas sera servi à la salle Richelieu. 

Raoul sera enterré aux côtés de son épouse, Marie, au cimetière de Cochrane.

En mémoire de Raoul, des dons peuvent être faits au manoir Villa Minto.
