R.J. Robert  James Andrews

With great sorrow we announce the passing of R.J. at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane, Ontario on Sunday October 22nd, 2023 at the age of 91 with Sharon and Shelley by his side.  He will be greatly missed by the love of his life, his beloved wife of nearly 65 years Germaine Andrews (nee Charron), daughters Sharon Andrews and Shelley (Jeff) Sypes, granddaughters Emma Sypes and Abby Sypes (Phillip). He was the brother of late Bill (late Claire) Andrews, Harry (Lola) Andrews, late Helen Dubien, late Reg (late Shirley) Andrews, Jack (Teresa) Andrews and Sue Rascone, brother-in-law of Jeannine (late Claude) Berthiaume, Lina (Jack) Kerr, Laura (Gerry) Fortier, late Roger Charron, Nicole Charron-Boucher (René), Bea (late Don) Berthiaume and Fern (Linda) Charron. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and his wonderful family of residents and staff at Cadence.  R. J. was predeceased by his son Bob Andrews, his mother Ella Andrews (nee Bonsteel) and his father William Walter Andrews.

He will also be missed by his Rancourt Lake family.  Special thanks to long time neighbours at the lake, Angel and Dan Forget who have given Mom and Dad so much help and support over the years and to Dave Lemieux for the many trips to out of town appointments.  We would also like to thank the staff of the Lady Minto hospital, especially Erica and Rachel, for their excellent care and compassion during his final hours. 

R. J. worked for more than 30 years at the Ministry of Transportation and was a lifelong volunteer.  Giving back to his community was very important to him.  He was on the Board of Directors at Lady Minto Hospital for more than 20 years and was recently presented with his 55 years of service pin as a member of the Cochrane Lions Club.  He continued his volunteer career as a member of the Resident Advisory Committee at Cadence.  

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian’s Burial at the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church in Cochrane at 11 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 and reception to follow at The Cadence Cochrane Retirement Residence. He will be laid to rest at the Cochrane Catholic Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Cadence Cochrane Retirement Residence (payable by cheques only and no income tax receipt will be issued) or to the Lady Minto Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
