Mrs. Catharina “Katy” Brisson
(nee Poberezetz)  
December 1, 1929 – June 26, 2021  

Katy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane, Ontario on Saturday June 26, 2021 at the age of 91.  She leaves behind her loving husband Alain Brisson of 69 years, her children Daniel (Carol) Brisson of Cochrane, Kendra (Paul) Robin of Cochrane, Dale Brisson of South Porcupine, Tina (Ken) Beadman of Ottawa, Lisa (Steven) Scian of Ottawa. She was loved and will be fondly missed by her grandchildren, Keven (Jenny), Tanya ( Brian),Derek (Maryse), Nathan (Carrie), Dale Jr. (Sarah), Kelsea (Kevin), Zoe (Mark), Sydney & Carter and many great grand children.  

Survived by her sister, Tatiana Mulligan, and is predeceased by her parents Michael and Martha (nee Smilichuk) Poberezetz, her siblings Vera (Sam) Trostenko, Sonia (Mike) Litwinchuk, Anna (Slim) Pickens, Maria (Bob) Gibson, Nina (Algirdas) Kaunas, her twin sister Sophia (Andy) Boulanger and her brother-in-law Dan Mulligan.  

Katy loved playing the piano and was a talented artist.  Portraits of loved ones and oil paintings filled their family home.   She was most passionate about gardening. On most days you would find her digging, planting, weeding, watering and nurturing her flowers and plants. 

Special thank you to the many health care professionals who made her journey through dementia comfortable for her, especially the caregivers at South Centennial Manor in Iroquois Falls and Kaitlyn, Jessica and Rob at the Lady Minto Hospital in her final days.    

The family will welcome relatives and friends at the Génier Gauthier funeral home on Friday August 27, 2021 from 9:30 am to 11am. Due to the pandemic, visits will take place in rotation in order to respect public health instructions. 

The funeral mass will be held on Friday August 27, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Transfiguration Church in Cochrane.
